Constant Lambert (1905 to 1951)
Constant Lambert (1905 to 1951) is perhaps best remembered as the first Musical Director of the Vic-Wells (now Royal) Ballet, and as the composer of "The Rio Grande".
However, he crammed an immense amount of activiy into his short life. He was a prolific musical journalist, and author of "Music Ho", a study of music in the 1930s. He made a number of fine records, reflecting his abiding love of French and Russian music, and of dance.
