Nikolai Golovanov (1891 – 1953)
Nikolai Golovanov (1891 – 1953) was noted for his subjective interpretations, especially suited to Romantic music.
Dynamic contrasts are emphasised, and his tempi are very flexible.
He conducted the Moscow Radio Symphony Orchestra from 1937 to 1953, and in addition the Bolshoi Opera from 1948.
